I remember when Volcom was just this tiny company from Newport Beach that only the coolest kids knew about. It was the early-mid 90’s when I first heard about Volcom and, a lot of the time, you wouldn’t even know someone was wearing a Volcom shirt. There was just a little “Stone” placed under the armpit of a t-shirt and that was it. It looked alot like Volcom Solid Basic T Shirt.
They were minimalist at heart, but just natural marketing geniuses. “Youth Against Establishment” was the slogan, and it still rings true. They’ve always been about kids of all ages surfing, skating and snowboarding whenever and wherever they can.
Volcom was conceived when founders Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall were up in the mountains scoring fresh powder. Luckily, they’ve always stayed true to those snowboarding roots. Even though we’re approaching summer, I always have my eye on the snow stuff for next season and Volcom never lets me down.
Volcom has obviously evolved a lot over the years. They’ve grown in size and now have a huge inventory of surf, skate, and snow products for us to choose from. One of my favorite products lines they offer is their swimwear. I wear their trunks and my super-hot wife swears by their swimsuits. She likes Volcom Break It Up Basic Bandeau Bikini Top and I‘ve been wearing Volcom Men's V4S Stripe Boardshorts since the water warmed up here in Orange County.
I gotta say that one of the coolest things Volcom has come out with ever are these Volcom Full Zip Hoodie. My son is 6 and he and all of his friends have at least one of these. It’s so creepy and awesome when they all have them zipped up over their faces. They look like a bunch of skating monsters. There's more Volcom gear to check out on shop2shred.com.
With innovative products like the full zip hoodies and the classic surf, skate and snow products they offer, it’s safe to say that Volcom is going to be around for a long time. I really appreciate the fact that they’ve stayed so dedicated to their roots. They’ve even proven their dedication by building a sick skate park that any skater on the planet would be stoked to skate. When I think about Volcom, I see a brand that is devoted to helping the youth make the most out of their surf, skate, and snowboarding sessions. Not all brands can say that.
Alright…enough writing. I’m loading up my Volcom Dimension Surf Backpack and going to the beach. The water is warm, I hope there’s some swell!
