(AP) The first snowboard and ski resort in the country will open its doors to guests in the winter months.
The first-ever ski resort at the California resort, Snowbird Mountain, is opening its doors in January.
The resort is located on the slopes of Mount Whitney, and it’s one of the few in the U.S. that has a ski and snowboard area.
It will offer everything from a half-pipe slide to an all-you-can-eat buffet.
The facility is about 60 miles (100 kilometers) east of San Francisco, and is about 90 miles (145 kilometers) south of Reno.
It has a fully stocked resort kitchen, an indoor/outdoor restaurant and a bar, according to the resort’s website.
Snowbird’s first resort was built in 1959.
In the summer, guests will be able to take a mini-ride through the mountain, ski and ski-walk the slopes, take in snow and ice and ski on a snowboard.
The resort will also have its own bike and snowmobile trails.
Snowbirds website says snowboarding will be a part of the resort, which will also offer sledding and snowshoeing.
The ski resort is scheduled to open in February.
It’s expected to reopen by January 2019.
The mountain is open for guests who need a lift from the San Francisco Bay Area or can drive, ski, ride or board in its off-road terrain.
Snowbird Mountain is operated by Mountain Equipment, Inc., of San Jose, California.
The Mountain Equipment website says the resort is owned by Snowbird Management, a partnership between the Snowbird Group and Mountain Equipment.
